Eritrea
Support for medical projects
Between 2005 and 2019, the association supported the purchase of medicines for the infirmaries in Akrur, Awhune, Bimbilna, Godaif, Tokonda and Zaghir in Eritrea through the Capuchin Brother Padre Gabriele. The friar, who has been working for 30 years, is committed to clinics and schools in rural areas under the most difficult conditions. In 2019, the Eritrean government closed or nationalized most of the schools and clinics in the country. Despite adverse circumstances, through the Capuchin Order, World Doctors provide medical aid for the suffering population in Asmara.
A water project in a remote mission in Mehelab in north-western Eritrea was supported in cooperation with the Podini Foundation.
Eritrea is one of the poorest countries in Africa. The government has expelled all aid organizations from the country. It is extremely difficult and therefore particularly necessary to help the people there, who lack everything.
