World Doctors support emergency medical aid with €10,000 and call for donations
Nepal is currently facing a severe flood disaster. In several regions, people and entire villages are urgently in need of medical care and essential relief supplies.
Dhulikhel Hospital, which has been working with World Doctors association for many years, responded immediately by mobilizing a rescue and medical team equipped with urgently needed medicines and relief supplies. An emergency response base has been established at the hospital’s outreach facility in the affected Nuwakot region. Further relief teams are currently being prepared. The planned measures also include emergency referrals, as well as the prevention and treatment of potential disease outbreaks. Dhulikhel Hospital is working closely with government authorities, local communities and humanitarian partners.
The non-profit Dhulikhel Hospital was founded in 1996 under the leadership of Dr. Ram Shresta. It is located northeast of Kathmandu and, through its 18 outreach facilities, provides healthcare to a catchment area of approximately 2.3 million people.
A Long-standing Partnership connects South Tyrol and Nepal
The current disaster is reminiscent of the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015. At that time, Dhulikhel Hospital was also a central point of care for thousands of injured people. Thanks to the generous support of donors in South Tyrol, World Doctors provided emergency assistance to thousands of people. In addition, funding was provided for the reconstruction of a school, the Dumja Clinic in Sindhuli, and residential buildings.
World Doctors are once again standing alongside Dr. Ram Shresta and his team and are calling for donations. The funds will be used for urgently needed medical care, medicines, as well as relief and hygiene supplies.
