25 Years of World Doctors Italy:
Missions of eleven Doctors and Volunteers this Autumn and Film Premiere for the Anniversary

The association World Doctors Italy celebrates 25 years of dedicated and voluntary work this year. Since its foundation, the association has supported people in some of the poorest regions of the world, promoting improved healthcare, prevention, and education. In October and November of this year, seven doctors and several technical specialists were once again deployed on mission.

Member Missions
ENT specialists Dr. Christian Streitberger and Dr. Nadia Giarbini travelled to the Dhulikhel Hospital in Nepal for the fourth time, where they support the newborn hearing screening project and perform surgical interventions. The aim of this program is the early detection and treatment of hearing impairments, helping to prevent deafness and offering affected children better prospects for the future.

Several teams were also active in Ethiopia: General practitioners Dr. Anna Thurner and Dr. Sandra Sparesato, together with radiologist Dr. Norma Decaminada, supported the San Marco Clinic for three weeks, providing medical care to several hundred patients every day.

Also in Ethiopia, at the Attat Hospital, surgeon Dr. Monika Niederkofler and orthopaedic specialist Dr. Dieter Randeu treated and operated on many patients, offering essential surgical care.

Valuable support also came from two technicians of the company ACS, Lukas Fischnaller and Luca Odorizzi, who resolved numerous IT issues at the Attat Hospital. Stefan and Eva Haller from the “Sennerei Algund” were also on site: at the “Happy Cheese” dairy in Emdibir, they trained local staff and contributed to the sustainable improvement of regional food production.

Film Premiere “A Part of Ourselves” on December 1, 2025 on RAI South Tyrol
Journalist Astrid Kofler and cameraman Helmut Lechthaler documented the work of World Doctors Italy, creating an impactful film. The result is the 25th anniversary documentary “A Part of Ourselves.” The film will be broadcast on December 1, 2025 at 9:15 p.m. on RAI South Tyrol.

The association expresses its heartfelt thanks to Astrid Kofler, Helmut Lechthaler, and RAI South Tyrol, as well as to all volunteers, donors, and supporters who have made this valuable work possible for the past 25 years.
